Gionee A1 was launched at the MWC 2017, one of the best places where you can launch a brand new smartphone. The Gionee A1 is the flagship phone of the company and for a good reason. The launch of the phone was grand and there was a lot to like about the phone. Nepal is one of the few countries where the phone has launched initially. The price of Gionee A1 in Nepal is Rs. 35,000.
Samir Dhungana, Marketing Manager at Gionee Nepal shared with The Himalayan Times, “We have huge expectations from our flagship model A1 and we are looking at selling over 5,000 sets in the first month.”
That’s a lot of smartphone that the company is trying to sell. We got to use the Gionee A1 extensively in Gionee’s first blogger meet and we liked the way the phone looked. Comparing the Gionee A1 with the Gionee S6 Pro, the phone has grown up a lot. But we also have to take into consideration that the Gionee A1 is good Rs. 8,000 more expensive than the Gionee S6s. Anyways, let’s have a look at the specs of the Gionee A1:
- 5.5″ 1080p IPS Display
- MediaTek P10 SoC clocked @2.0GHz
- 4GB of RAM
- 64GB Internal Storage
- 13MP Rear Camera (same as that on the Gionee S6s)
- 16MP Front Camera
- 1080p Full HD Video recording
- Dual core fast charge technology
- 4010mAh Battery
On the specs sheet, the phone looks really good. The only letdown has to be the SoC the company has used under the hood. The MediaTek P10 is a relatively old SoC and doesn’t suit the other features of the phone. We personally feel that 4GB RAM+MediaTek P10= mismatch. It would have been way better if the company has opted for the Helio X20 and combined it with 3GB of RAM.
If you can overlook this particular mismatch, you will be perfectly fine with this phone. The build of the phone is really good. The fingerprint scanner works like a charm. In addition to that, the display of the phone is much better compared to the Gionee S6s and the S6 Pro.
Again, the price of Gionee A1 in Nepal is Rs.35,000. If you go to the retailers, you can get it for a cheaper price. Thanks for reading this post. What do you think about the phone? Leave your thoughts down below in the comment section.
