Future Smartphones not to have 3.5mm Jack

iPhone 7 with no headphone port

It’s really happening! It’s time for us to say good-bye to our old trusty 3.5mm headphone jack one and forever! It looks like none of our future smartphones will be equipped with the headphone jack. It will take time for this to happen entirely but it will surely happen.

iPhone 7 with no headphone port

iPhone 7 is going to be the first major flagship phone to ship without the 3.5mm headphone jack. And it makes sense too. 3.5mm headphone jack has been around in the business for more than 3 decades and it makes sense that it gets replaced by newer technology. Both the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus will come without the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack. And as well all know, other major companies are bound to follow the trend.

Both Lenovo Droid Z and Droid Z Force skip the 3.5mm jack!

It’s not only Apple who will be ditching the headphone jack. Lenovo, today, just announced that two of their flagship smartphones will also come with ho 3.5mm headphone jack. Both the Motorola Z Droid and Motorola Z Droid Force come with a USB Type-C to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter instead!

With phones getting thinner and thinner and the performance improving dramatically in each iteration of the phone, unnecessary ports were bound to go anyways. It will be a difficult transition for the users but we will have to live with it. It’s sad that we have to use adapter to do something as basic as listening to music but looks like it is how things are going to be in the future.
