Huawei Honor Magic: All about the curves

In an event held in China, Huawei launches their curviest phone ever, the Huawei Honor Magic. This is Huawei’s take on curved smartphones and aesthetic wise it looks stunning.

The phone which is not far away from magic packs a 5.09 inch Quad HD display with a pixel density of 577 PPI. The display as mentioned earlier is curved on three sides (additional curve on the top), unlike the Galaxies which has curves only on two sides. Under the hood, the phone is powered by an in-house Octa-core Hisilicon Kirin 950 coupled with the Mali-T880 MP4. The processor is backed up by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The phone also houses a fingerprint scanner which is embedded in the home button.

The Honor Magic follows the trend of the Honor 8 and packs a dual camera set up. The phone houses a dual 12 MP, f/2.2 rear camera accompanied by a dual-tone LED flash. The phone also has an 8MP front camera for all your selfies. Software-wise, the phone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Huawei custom UI for the Honor Magic, the Magic Live UI. And finally powering the device all up is a 2900mAh non-user removable battery. The phone also supports USB type C 1.0 and USB on the go.The battery on this phone also integrates a new graphite structure giving it crazy charge time. It can charge from 0-70% in just 20 minutes. I mean how cool is that!

The Honor Magic also has other nifty and useful tricks up its sleeves. It has a new and improved lock screen feature which suggest various apps according to the situation. It now also integrates Deep Think which is basically Huawei’s version of Google Now On Tap. Other useful features include drive detection and shortcut generation. So the Huawei Magic look to be a dream phone but it doesn’t come cheap. For a concept phone, the Magic is priced at 3,699 yuan which is about $530. The phone will be available for pre-order from the 25th of December in China while there is no news as of right now when and if the phone will be available in other markets.
