Huawei launches Honor 6x with dual camera

In an event held yesterday (18 October), Huawei launched the successor to the Honor 5x, the Honor 6x in China. This new mid-range smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer sports a dual camera setup and a fingerprint scanner for an awe-inspiring price of just $150.

The Huawei Honor 6x sports a 5.5 inch Full HD IPS display with a pixel density of 401 PPI. It also incorporates a 2.5D glass giving the phone a seamless experience. The device comes encased in a unibody aluminum shell which not only looks good but also makes the device feel premium in the hands. Under the hood, the 6x is powered by an in-house HiSilicon Kirin 655 octa-core processor coupled with the Mali-T830MP2 GPU. The processor is backed up by 3/4 GB of RAM and 32/64 GB of internal storage. The memory can be further expanded via a Micro-SD card up to 256GB. The phone also has a hybrid sim card slot meaning you can either use 2 sim cards or 1 sim card and a Micro-SD card.

The Huawei Honor 6X houses a 12 MP and a 2 MP dual rear camera with a LED flash. This is the standout feature of this phone as it is a rarity to see a dual camera on a mid-tier smartphone. The 6x also has a 8 MP rear camera for all your selfies. And just sitting below the dual rear camera is a fingerprint reader for added security. And on the software side of things, the phone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Huawei’s own custom skin, Emotion UI 4.1 overlayed on top of it.

And finally powering the device all up is a 3340mAh battery which will be enough to get users a full day worth of battery life. Power users will also be happy with the fast charging capabilities that the phone comes with.

Overall, the Honor 6x looks to be an amazing smartphone with top-notch specs (in the mid-tier category) and a wallet-friendly price tag.
