Call Mobility, the official distributor of Huawei smartphones in Nepal has recently launched the Huawei P9 lite. The budget-friendly version of their flagship, the Huawei P9 is priced at Rs 31,999 and is now available for you to buy.

The Huawei P9 lite follows the same design philosophy of its counterpart but ditches the aluminium uni-body for a polycarbonate back and a metal frame. The phone, however, retains that 5.2-inch full HD display with a pixel density of 424 PPI. It is not the same display as the P9 but we expect it to perform well for its price.

Under the hood, the phone houses an in-house HiSilicon Kirin 650 octa-core processor coupled with the Mali-T830 GPU. The processor is backed by 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. The storage can be expanded through the hybrid sim slot with the help of a micro SD card (up to 256 GB). That means you can either use two sim cards or one sim card and a micro SD card.

The lite version receives a major downgrade in the camera department. Gone is the dual-camera setup of the P9; instead, there is a traditional camera layout. The phone now has a 13 MP rear shooter with a LED flash. The phone, however, still has an 8 MP front camera for all your selfies. It also does have a fingerprint scanner sitting just below the rear camera for added security.

In the software side of things, the phone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Huawei’s own custom skin, Emotion UI 4.1 layered on top of it. And powering the device all up is a 3000 mah battery. This will be more than enough to get consumers a full day of usage without any issues.

So in conclusion, the Huawei P9 lite is a more budget friendly version of the P9, Huawei’s flagship model. The phone has cut a lot of corners on things like build quality, camera and even processor to decrease the price. However, this doesn’t change the fact that it is still a great phone on its own standing. Anyone looking for a mid-tier smartphone with decent specs and a wallet-friendly price will most probably love the Huawei P9 lite. We only wish Huawei had given it the dual camera treatment that of its bigger sibling. It would have added a lot more value to the phone over the fierce competition in the mid-tier market.
