InFocus, an American smartphone manufacturer has entered the Nepalese market through Prism Technology Pvt. Ltd. A couple of weeks ago the company launched two new smartphones, the InFocus M370i and the M808i here in Nepal. The budget offering, M370i is priced at Rs 13,999 while the mid-tier offering, the M808i is priced at Rs 21,999.
And among the two, the one that caught my eye was the M808i. Well, there is a lot to like about this smartphone, but the first and foremost is its design. The phone comes in an unibody metal design which not only makes the phone look good but also makes it feel good in the hands. There is just something about the design that feels utterly familiar yet compelling.
The phone also packs a 5.2 inch IPS Full HD display with a pixel density of 424 PPI. The display is also covered by Gorilla Glass 3 giving it protection against drops and scratches. It is always a delight to see a Full HD display and Gorilla Glass protection on a smartphone at this price point.
Under the hood, the M808i houses a MediaTek MT675 chipset clocked at 1.6 GhZ. The processor is also backed up by 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage.
And in the camera department, the phone sports a 13 MP rear camera with a LED flash and a 5 MP front-facing camera for all your selfies. The M808i also runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with the company’s own custom skin, Inlife UI layered on top of it. And powering the device all up is a rather small 2450 mah battery.
Overall the smartphone packs some decent specification with a good design and a compelling price tag. The strength of this smartphone definitely is its design in my opinion.
In a place where the budget and mid-tier market is dominated by the likes of Samsung and Huawei, it is good to see new competition. The InFocus M808i might not be many things but it definitely is an eye candy. And if the design is your main cue, then the InFocus M808i is available here right now for an affordable price of Rs 21,999. And to make the deal even sweeter, the folks at Infocus are throwing in a VR headset for free with every purchase of the M808i.
That definitely is an irresistible combo and many Nepalese customers will find it compelling. So tell us what do you think about the M808i or the InFocus brand in general. We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments down below.
