Obi Worldphone, a company who made a debut almost four months ago in Nepal, is here with a brand new smartphone. If you have been following our website, you guys will probably know that we loved the design of the Obi SF1 and the compactness of the SJ 1.5. Well, the MV1 is the best of both worlds running the ever so popular CyanogenMod OS.
The MV1 is a mid-tier smartphone which has 5 inch IPS display with HD resolution giving it a pixel density of 294PPI. The display is covered by Gorilla Glass 3 giving it protection against drops and scratches. Under the hood, the phone rocks a Snapdragon 212 processor clocked at 1.3 GHz coupled with the Mali-304 GPU. The processor is backed up by 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. The memory can be further expanded via a Micro-SD card up to 64 GB.
In the camera department, the phone sports an 8MP rear camera with a LED flash. It also has a 2MP front camera for all your selfies. The phone runs CyanogenMod 12.1 which looks like Android 5.1 Lollipop but with much more customizability. The CM OS will most probably run very smoothly giving the phone an edge over the competition. The phone also supports dual sim card and Micro-SD card as mentioned earlier. And powering the device all up is a 2500mAh user removable battery. This will be enough to get users through a full day of usage without any problem.
Overall, the OBI MV1 seems to be a good phone with some decent specifications. The design is unique with its floating display and rounded chin. It takes many of its design cues from its older cousins and blends them together to make a phone that is visually attractive. We can’t wait to get our hands on this phone and try it out for ourselves.
