Kasthamandap Asia International Pvt Ltd (KAI) has been appointed as the authorized national distributor of Cubot phones in Nepal. The company is looking to take a slice of the pie of the entry-level Android smartphone market in Nepal.
The company has launched 6 models at launch and the price ranges from Rs. 9,500 all the way up to Rs.16,375. The phones are clearly targeted to meet the needs of users who are looking for a phone that is affordable but at the same time is capable of running all types of apps and games.
The price of Cubot Phones in Nepal
- Cubot Nova – Rs. 16,375
- Cubot Note Plus – Rs. 16,100
- Cubot Magic – Rs. 14,820
- Cubot R11 – Rs. 14,300
- Cubot R9 – Rs. 12,675
- Cubot J3 – Rs. 9,500
All of the phones run on Android with Cubot’s own software on top (except the Cubot J3 which runs on stock Android Go).
The Cubot Nova is the most expensive Cubot phone you can buy in Nepal right now. The phone features a 5.5-inch display and has support for 4G network. It is powered by the MediaTek MT6739 SoC and has 3GB of RAM on-board. There’s also 16GB of internal storage which can be extended using a Micro-SD card.
On the rear, you are welcomed with a single 13MP rear camera and an LED flash. On the front, there’s an 8MP selfie camera which takes decent photos.
Then, there’s the Cubot J3. It’s the company’s entry-level Android smartphone which I find to be a really good value. For one, it runs on Android Go, which delivers excellent user experience. Also, even though the phone has only 1GB of RAM and is powered by a fairly low-power MT 6580 MediaTek processor, the phone runs really smooth. A bit of it definitely has to do with its software.
For those curious, Cubot is a China-based electronics manufacturer. The company wants to set itself as a strong smartphone brand in Nepal providing customers with products that are priced fairly and easily accessible.
