Price of Samsung Galaxy S5 in Nepal

Why Samsung Galaxy S5 doesn't have 3GB RAM and 2K Display

The flagship phone from Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be launched in Nepal in 11th April, 2014. There are two versions of Samsung Galaxy S5, one with Qualcomm Processor (the 801) and other is Exynos processor version which is made by Samsung itself. We will be getting the Exynos version of Samsung Galaxy S5 which is a good news for us as the processor has 8 cores!

Why Samsung Galaxy S5 doesn't have 3GB RAM and 2K Display
Unlike other 8-core processors, Exynos 5 Octa 5422 doesn’t run on “Big.LITTLE” configuration which means all the 8 cores can run at once! We don’t know whether the GPU is just as that found on Qualcomm Snapdragon S801.

The key features of Samsung Galaxy S5 are as follows:

  • 5.1″ Full HD Super Amoled Display
  • Exynos 5 Octa Core processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16MP Isocell Camera
  • 4K Video Recording
  • 2800mAh Battery
  • Finger Print Scanner
  • Heart Beat Sensor
  • IP67 certification for dust proofing and waterproofing*
  • Ultra fast focus times

The main competitors of Samsung Galaxy S5 are HTC One (M8), iPhone 5s, LG G2 and Sony Xperia Z2. As there is no official distributor of iPhone and

HTC phones in Nepal, Samsung Galaxy S5 will compete with Sony Xperia Z2 and LG G2 in Nepal. Personally, I would wait for the Sony Xperia Z2 to launch in Nepal as it is a really good smartphone and is better than Samsung Galaxy S5 in many ways. Price will be the main differentiater here.

Why Samsung Galaxy S5 doesn't have 3GB RAM and 2K DisplaySamsung Galaxy has got IP67 rating too which means it is completely dust proof and can be submerged in water (under 1 meters) for 30 minutes. Further, it has got fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button. You canย  unlock the device with just a swipe with your finger (unless you are using Swipr ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). What’s more, you also get a heart rate monitor to measure your heart bpm. It comes bundled with S Health App which help you live a healthy lifestyle. The camera is upgraded too. In fact, the camera in the Samsung Galaxy S5 has major improvements. The camera can now click images faster as the new camera houses contrast focusing system. The sensor itself is now 16MP. The camera app is refined and gets new features which lets you focus parts of image even after the phone is taken. The shutter lag is virtually in-existent. Like the Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy S5 has micro-SD card slot. Also, the battery is removable. The battery is larger than before and is now rated at 2800mAh. ย There is also ultra-power saving mode in this phone which lets you extend battery life by shutting down unnecessary functions.

    • Well, you can but IMS only sells Octa core version and their performance is identical. Both can shoot videos in 4K. I don’t see any reason to get a 4G phone in Nepal as NTC and Ncell limit network usage to 3G.
However, if you are willing to buy a quad core version, you can buy it from 3rd party sellers in New Road.

    • The dealer of Samsung phones in Nepal is International Marketing Services (IMS) and they have outlets in various places including Durbar Marg.
