Samsung Galaxy Grand was a great success for Samsung. It was one of the best budget phone you could get for the price. For Nepalese, it really was a sweet deal. For only Rs.36,000 you could get a phone to satisfy your needs! The phone was big at 5″ and people really loved it. To make things even better, Samsung has officially announced Samsung Galaxy Grand 2. It will be available in Black, White and Pink colour and has the same leather faux as seen in the Note 3. A lot has changed in this model which makes it worth the price. We don’t know how much it will exactly cost but we assume it will cost around Rs.40,000 when launched. Everything has changed including the dimensions. Now what you are getting is a 5.25″ 720p Display with 1.5GB of RAM. We don’t think there is any kind of Gorilla Glass protection and we don’t expect such protection either. There is also a beefy battery to supplement the bigger screen and more powerful quad-core processor. The battery is rated at 2600mAh which is the same capacity you can find in the Galaxy S4. You don’t get Amoled screen however. It gets a LCD treatment which is not bad either. This device now features a 1.2GHz Quad Core processor and rocks an unknown GPU. The bigger battery is a sweet deal too. If Samsung can price this phone properly, it may just be as popular as the Note 3 and the Samsung Galaxy S4.
The key features of Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 are:
- 1.2Ghz Quad-Core Processor
- Android 4.3
- 1.5GB of RAM
- 3600mAh Battery
- 720p HD 5.2″ screen
- Dual SIM functionality
- 8GB Internal Storage with Microsd Card Slot
- 8MP Rear camera
- 1.9MP front Camera
- Video recording@1080p
- TouchWiz UI layer
The new Grand without any doubt sound great on paper. All we need to do now is test the phone for real. The original Grand even though has good specs( for its class) has awful performance especially due to the TouchWiz UI. It was no where near high end smartphones. But Samsung has seriously boosted Grand 2’s performance. The new phone has gotten even bigger than before. Studying the history, there will be more people liking it rather than disliking it. Samsung really wants it phone to be in the market. They have well taken over the high end phone market as well as the low end smartphone market and with the new Grand 2, they want to take over the mid-range smartphone market as well! Let’s see how this works out. Thank you for reading my post. Stay tuned and stay updated.
