Samsung, being Samsung, is expanding its smartphone market in all sectors from budget to niche ones. And in the process, it’s expanding its J-series with new phones like Galaxy J6, Galaxy J4 and Galaxy J2. While the Galaxy J6 is set to release in Indian markets very soon, the J4 is bound to launch next month, and now, it’s time for the budget-oriented Galaxy J2 to make its debut. While we don’t know how much use these in-built features will be for us in Nepal, the Galaxy J2 does feature compelling specs for its price.

For the price of Rs.14590, you get a 1.4 GHz Quad-core processor, a low-level Snapdragon 425 SoC with 2 GB of RAM and an Adreno 308 GPU. Since it is a budget-friendly phone, you cannot use heavy applications on it, but we can be certain that other operations will be smooth. There is 16 GB onboard storage on the phone with an expandable option of up to 128 GB via a dedicated slot for microSD. And that surely will come in handy for it focuses on the Social Media aspect.

The Galaxy J2 features a 5″ Super AMOLED screen with 540 x 960 resolution in the standard 16:9 screen ratio. Even for a budget phone, the company is trying to provide the best available display.

In the camera department, the J2 sports an 8 MP main shooter with f/2.2 aperture and a 5 MP front shooter with LED flash on both. So, you can also get that night time selfies as well. And you can also record full HD 1080p videos with the rear camera. It comes with a 2600 mAh battery, that should last you more than a day quite easily. And the phone is running on Android 7.1 for now but may receive Oreo update in the future.

Compared to last year’s J2, this year’s upgrade makes quite a lot of sense. The battery size is bigger and the camera has improved significantly in terms of pixel-count and resolution. And it also has another feature that helps in better memory management. It automatically saves contents from social media apps to your memory card. A very convenient feature indeed!
