LG G3 has proved to be a big obstacle to Samsung Galaxy S5 sales and this is no secret. The QHD Display of LG G3 was too much for Samsung to handle and that is why Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime is about to make its official apperance. Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime is supposed to be the premium version of the original Samsung Galaxy S5 which will come with full metal body.
Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime not only competes with LG but also with premium devices like HTC M8 and iPhone 5s. However, Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime won’t be water-proof as the Samsung Galaxy S5. The specs of Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime are as follows:
- 5.2″ 2K Display ( 2560×1440) with pixel density above 550ppi
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 CPU
- Adreno 420GPU
- 16MP ISoCell Camera
- 2MP Front-facing Camera
- 2800mAh Battery
- Full Metal Body
- 32GB Internal Storage
- Ultra Power Saving Mode
- 4K Video Recording @ 30fps
- 1080p Video Recording @ 60fps
- Android 4.4.3 at launch
Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will be launched for 800$ unlocked and will be available in U.S, U.K, India and 20 more countries initially. Samsung Galaxy S5 has the same specs as the S5 LTE which recently was unveiled in Korea but will have Full Metal body which is missing in the Korean model.
This is a smart move from Samsung. To keep up with the pace in which hardware is progressing, Samsung has decided to launch more than one flagship in a year. In fact, it will be launching 3 flagships this year including the Note 4 which will be released later this year.
Sony does the same with their flagship phones too. They release two “Z” flagships in a year. Although, this is profitable to the manufactures, consumers won’t like it at all. Say you bought Samsung Galaxy S5 3 months ago and now there is Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime coming up. In two months of time there will be something else… something better. How do you feel about it? Can we really keep up with the pace? This really raises a question ” Is it worth buying new smartphone every year” for minor updates? If you ask me,certainly not.
Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime is going to be Samsung’s top dog of the year with top-notch software and hardware. If you haven’t bought Samsung Galaxy S5 yet, it may be worth waiting for Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime. This will be the first premium phone from Samsung. But you should know that the Prime S5 won’t be water sealed nor will it be fully dust proof. If you are OK with that, you are good to go.
