Samsung Mobile Nepal has just launched the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2017 in Nepal. It’s been a while since we saw a new tablet from the Samsung Stable. The Galaxy Tab A 2017 is now available in Nepal for Rs.28,990. Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2017 is one of the very few tablets that you can get in the country today. With the craze of larger smartphones and convertibles laptops, tablets somehow and somewhere lost their ground. Today, when we talk about tablets, it’s either iPad or its nothing. In such a scenario, Samsung Mobile Nepal is bold enough to launch a new tablet on the market.
The Galaxy Tab A 2017 isn’t the company’s flagship tablet nor is it the most expensive one. Instead, Samsung Nepal is targeting it to the customers who are looking for a device to consume their media on. And for that, the Galaxy Tab A 2017 makes a bold statement.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2017 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 425SoC and is coupled with 2GB of RAM. While it’s not a lot by today’s standard, it is plenty for playing back Full HD movies, Youtube videos and surfing Facebook. And no, you won’t be able to play AAA games on the Tab A 2017 but it’s perfectly fine for playing indie titles.
Another thing to love about this tablet is the fact that you can slot in Micro-SD card to it. The in-built 16GB of storage definitely won’t be adequate especially if you plan on storing a lot of movies on it.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2017 has an 8-inch LCD panel with the screen resolution of 1280×800. We wished it was an AMOLED display though. The display resolution is fine for an 8-inch tablet but the texts don’t look as sharp as I would like them to. Also, what really bothers me is the quality of the panel used. Once you put it against any of the flagship phones of 2017, you will immediately notice the lack of color and contrast.
The 8MP rear camera of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A is paired with a f/1.9 lens which does well in low-light and surprisingly takes good phones! I know many of you will flag me for saying that you can use the camera for taking good phones and you should use it…. but really, I am impressed with the camera on this tablet. And maybe it is also because I wasn’t expecting much out of it in the first place.
There’s also a single-tone LED flashlight if that makes sense to you. The front-camera is a 5MP unit with f/2.2 aperture. It’s good for taking selfies and putting them out on Instagram. It’s a 2017 tablet from Samsung so there’s Bixby built-in. The Bixby does more than you think and is quite impressive. Sure it isn’t as accurate as the Google Assistant and it doesn’t understand Nepalese that well, but it’s powerful and is integrated deeply into the tablet. It can perform actions which Google Assistant simply can’t. It will take some time for Bixby to compete with the Google Assistant and Apple’s virtual assistant, Siri, but it’s catching up fast. Also the fact that most of the Samsung appliances now have Bixby built into them, it’s easy to see where Samsung is going.
Since it’s a tablet, there’s a large 5000mAh battery placed under the shell of the Galaxy A 2017. The battery is good for 14hrs of continuous video playback. The standby time of the tablet is also excellent. The tablet doesn’t disappoint in the battery department.
Samsung Mobile Nepal is targeting the tablet primarily for media consumption and at that the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2017 certainly excels. If you are looking for a tablet especially for elderly like your mother who happens to only consume media and is looking for a larger display to look it, you should definitely have a look at the Galaxy Tab A 2017.
I wouldn’t consider it the best tablet on the market (the crown goes to the iPad), but in context of Nepal, considering the price, it certainly is worth the purchase.
Again, the price of Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2017 in Nepal is Rs.28,990. Are you willing to purchase the Tab A for this price? Do let us know down in the comments section below.
