Another day, another Samsung phone! Samsung Nepal has launched the Samsung Z2 in Nepal, one of their few phones powered by Tizen OS. And yes, it is that rare phone that you can buy today which doesn’t run on Android operating system.

The Tizen OS is backed up by companies such as Samsung, Intel, Huawei, Panasonic and Vodafone. When we say it doesn’t run on Android we simply mean you don’t get access to millions of apps available in the Android ecosystem. But the essential apps are still there. You get popular apps like Facebook, Messenger and Whatsapp. There’s also popular apps and games such as Instagram and Plants & Zombies. What you won’t find is Viber, Load Shedding Schedule and many more Android apps!

Leaving the software part aside, here is what you get in terms of hardware in the Samsung Z2:

  • 4″ WVGA Screen
  • Spreadtrum SC9830 1.5GHz Quadcore CPU
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 5MP f/2.2 Rear Camera with LED Flash
  • VGA (0.3MP) Front Camera
  • 720p HD Video Recording
  • 4G Connectivity
  • Accelerometer
  • Dual SIM Functionality
  • 1500mAh Battery

samsung-z2-techno-nepalMr. Pranaya Ratna Sthapit, Head, HHP Division, Samsung Nepal, said “Samsung Z2 makes relevant to the unique needs of feature phone users and first time smartphone buyers. It brings consumers a fast and affordable mobile bundled up with powerful hardware & localized features for Nepali consumers.” And we quite agree with that. For the price this phone is launched, there’s very little to complain. The phone doesn’t excel in any particular department but is a good phone all around.

The Samsung Z2 is snappy and very responsive. If the phone would have run on Android, we are pretty sure the phone experience wouldn’t be this good. For those curious, the price of Samsung Z2 in Nepal is Rs. 7,290.

All in all, for the price you are paying, we think it is a really good phone. If are you coming from a feature phone, you will love the new Samsung Z2 smartphone. We will provide you with an in-depth review when we get the phone for review.
