Sony Xperia XA Ultra: Hands on impression in Nepal

Nepa Hima Trade Link, the official distributor of Sony smartphones in Nepal has just recently launched three new smartphones, the Xperia X, the Xperia XA and the Xperia XA Ultra.

Out of the three, the one that caught most of my attention was the Xperia XA Ultra. The large 6 inch display may be a major contributing factor to that. The phone is unmistakably huge and will most definitely make heads turn.

And if you have been following us on our social media platforms then you have probably heard about the Bloggers meet held by Sony Nepal. In this meet we got to take a look and play with all three devices. From my limited time with these devices, here are some of the things that caught my eye about the Xperia XA Ultra. But, before that let’s take a quick look at the key specifications of this device. They are:

-6 inch IPS Dispaly

-1920*1080 resolution with 367 PPI

-Mediatek MT6755 Helio P10

– Mali T860MP2

-3 GB RAM/ 16 GB internal storage

– 21.5 MP rear camera with phase detection auto focus

-16 MP front camera with warm tone LED flash

-2700 mah battery

-NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n , Bluetooth 4.0

-Android Marshmallow 6.0.1

OK, as I mentioned earlier the massive 6 inch display is undoubtedly a head turner. That paired with a 2.5 D glass makes it a wicked combination of good looks and proper ergonomics. The display itself also gets pretty bright and exhibits good outdoor visibility.

While the phone is made mainly out of polycarbonate plastic, it still feels good in the hands thanks to its metal chassis. The phone is also narrower compared to other 6 inch phones and has superb button placement. This helps in better usability and day-to-day operation of this ginormous phone.

Sony has always been notorious for their camera hardware. Same applies for the Xperia XA Ultra as the device packs a 21.5 MP rear shooter. I didn’t actually get to test it out for myself, but I have some high expectations from this camera.

And selfie lovers also may be in for a treat as the device packs a mind blowing 16 MP front camera with an LED flash. The LED flash is also warm toned unlike any other front firing flash. This helps you capture those precious selfies even at night time or in low light scenarios with natural skin tone. It also has OIS built into the front camera, which is insane. Selfie lovers will  indubitably appreciate this package and what the device has to offer.

And if you are intrigued by its offering than this beast of a phone is available for you to buy here in Nepal in any Official Sony Experience showroom for a price of Rs 48,499. I am aware that a phablet is not everyone’s cup of tea but people who are looking for a large display, a killer camera combination and a clean, almost stock UI among other things will most definitely be satisfied with this phone.
