United Traders Syndicate Pvt. Ltd, the sole authorized distributor of Toyota vehicles in Nepal has launched the very latest Toyota Corolla Cross in Nepal. For the Corolla Cross, the company is offering two trim levels: Corolla Cross “Entry” and Corolla Cross “High”. The price of Toyota Corolla Cross “Entry” is Rs. 11,200,000 while the top of the line Toyota Corolla Cross “High” will set you back Rs. 1,330,000.
It’s interesting to note that just a couple o years ago, you would get a RAV4 for this price.
The Corolla Cross competes with the likes of Mitsubishi Eclipse, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Subaru XV Crosstrek in Nepal.
For those unaware, in the international market, the Corolla Cross sits in-between the RAV4 and the C-HR. Looks-wise, the Corolla Cross looks similar to the RAV-4, especially from the back.
The SUV is 4,460mm long and has an unacceptably low ground clearance of 161mm. Being an SUV, we were expecting the Corolla Cross to have decent ground clearance. You will find that hatchbacks and sedans that come from India have more ground clearance than the Corolla Cross. And unlike the RAV4, the Corolla Cross is just two-wheel drive. Under the skin, the Corolla Cross is more of a hatch than a proper SUV.
Thankfully though, both the models of the Corolla Cross come with a potent 1.8-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine. The engine churns out 140HP and 175Nm of torque. For those who are planning to buy this for city usage will be glad to know that CVT automatic transmission is offered with this SUV. We are also told that a hybrid power-train will be offered at a later date.
That’s not all. Toyota isn’t skimping when it comes to safety standards. All variants of the SUV come with 7 Airbags and Toyota Safety Sense which includes a host of active and passive safety technologies.
