Apex 2020 concept, which was supposed to be unveiled at the MWC 2020, has finally been unveiled. The Apex Concept is a futuristic phone from Vivo which shows what the company is capable of designing and manufacturing.
The first Vivo Apex phone came with a pop-up camera while the second Apex phone came with 5G connectivity and had no ports or buttons.
The Apex 2020 Concept phone takes the design and features up a notch. The phone comes with wireless charging technology that can charge the phone wirelessly at up to 60 Watts! That’s not all, though.
The design of the phone is just as futuristic. The phone has no side buttons nor does it has any ports. The screen curves all the way to the sides of the phone. Since there is no place for physical buttons on the sides, the phone makes way with capacitive touch buttons on the sides.
On the front of the phone (and on the sides), there’s an AMOLED display with 6.45-inch Full HD+ resolution. But that’s not the interesting part. What is, is the inclusion of a in-display front-camera which resides beneath the front screen.
The rear cameras on the back of the phone are just as interesting. While the Apex doesn’t have a large 108MP camera like the Galaxy S20, it has a stabilizer that is better than any other. Vivo claims that the system has 200% more angle of stabilization compared to other OIS systems. The 48MP camera outputs 12MP images, thanks to pixel-binning.
The 16MP periscope camera is another quirky feature that you own’t find in any other phone today. Sure, the flagship Huawei phones have it and so do Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra but the periscope found on the Vivo Apex 2020 is much better. It can zoom optically 5x all the way up to 7.5x. It’s worth noting that this all happens optically. There’s no digital zoom involved here.
The Vivo Apex 2020 is certainly an interesting phone. But unfortunately, it will not be available for you to buy. However, you can expect bits and pieces of the phone to make its way into other Vivo phones.
